Clem Sunter: South Africa (and the World) beyond 2011

Merit Business Institute will be presenting a one-hour talk by Clem Sunter, with added question & answer time.

South Africa (and the World) beyond 2011 – 24 May 2011, 12h30 for 13h00  to 14h30

Clem brings a wealth of knowledge to business owners and managers who are determined to stay ahead amidst the economic turbulence that we find ourselves in. “Foxy” thinking is for those who are not prepared to keep doing things the same way, but who want to develop the keen sense that allows them to adapt skilfully to the various scenarios that present themselves.

In his article of 16/01/11, “Walk like an Egyptian, think like a Fox Clem stated: “ ….. much of the future is beyond your control and uncertain enough to be unpredictable. By all means have a vision and support it with objectives, key performance indicators and all the other accessories, ….. but for heaven's sake, do not bet the shop on the future unfolding in the way you want it to unfold. Adapt your strategy for whatever the future throws at you - decisively and quickly and as soon as the flags (indicators) go up.”

In this talk Clem will address the following:

·         The Strategic Conversation Model- firstly defining your (business) game and secondly playing the game (Discussing the 10 questions to ask when planning your company’s strategy for the future)

·         The current global “flags” to consider

·         The current South African “flags” to consider

·         Question and answer session

Clem Sunter has been voted by leading South African CEO's as the speaker that made the most significant contribution to, and impact on, best practice and business in South Africa in 2004. In April 2006 Clem was invited to give a presentation on scenario planning at the Central Party School in Beijing, a very rare experience for a foreigner. The strategy conversation model Clem uses has been tried and tested in Australia and Europe to great acclaim.
